As Bay Area residents living amidst so much diversity and great ethnic food, our idea of comfort food doesn't always align with the traditional concept based on the cuisine of the deep south of the United States.
Sure, we may have cravings for fried chicken or mac & cheese, but we also dream about tacos, ramen and pho.
The way we eat is changing. Our palates are now global.
And it really is hard to decide on one cuisine.

Swing Shift proprietor Yvette Yong is a seasoned restaurant industry veteran with experience as a general manager, bar manager, director of food & beverage for hotels, senior level director in multi-concept food establishments, and as co-owner of the former Lure, San Mateo.
She has been dreaming about opening this restaurant for over five years and is thrilled to bring a brand new dining concept to the mid-Peninsula.
Yvette was also lucky enough to have two good friends and highly respected professionals in the industry help with her lofty goal of encapsulating the Bay Area dining scene in one small restaurant space
Chef Jon Sears, former chef-owner of both the Dining Room in San Mateo and Epicurean Events lent his expertise with food recipe development.
Duggan McDonnell, former owner of Cantina in San Francisco, renowned mixologist and author of Drinking the Devil's Acre, helped us launch a sophisticated, yet approachable, low- and no-ABV cocktail program.
Swing Shift is a love letter to the Bay Area culinary scene. We have made the leap of faith to transition from pop-up to permanent restaurant, and in order to succeed, we need your help!
